Strengths/weaknesses
Strengths: The schools are divided into four different age groups so that the younger students are not going to the same school as older kids. There is a variety of options for adults and graduates looking to further their education. The graduation rate is 87% which is above the state level. The library has a lot to offer the community especially the ability to access a lot of their information through their website.
Weaknesses: Salem schools are graded as an “F” for Ohio’s performance index. This should be a top priority to bring up their scores. Another weakness is their bussing. Kindergarten through 6th grade students are not bussed to school unless they live more than a mile away. Getting their kids to school may be a hardship for some parents because it is too dangerous to let young children walk themselves to school. They do not have a formal sex education class.
